“X-TEND worldwide visibly invisible”

As a world novelty for the discus cage protective net, X-TEND was in action at the 12th IAAF Championships in Athletics, which just took place last week in Berlin, Germany.
By replacing the discus cage's conventional synthetic net by X-TEND, the transparency of the mesh surface was increased by multiples, fulfilling the necessary security requirements at the same time.
A ring of sandbags at the mesh bottom stabilizes its position and avoids disks escaping out of the cage in uncontrolled manner, in case of failure attempts.
The special blackening treatment of X-TEND reduces irritating light reflections and allows for blending of the mesh with the background - thus almost not visible anymore for the human eye nor for the cameras.
The transparency of X-TEND mesh, being new to the world of international sports events, allows for new kinds of camera takes, presentations possibilities and unhindered views of the spectators. The athletes are thus positioned much better into the visual focus of broadcasting techniques as well as of the audience.
The new discus cage solution corresponds to the special requirements and certification of the sports technique regulations of the Berlin Organizational Committee, as well as of the International Association of Athletics Federation IAAF, and was developed in collaboration with Benz Sportgeraete in Winndenden, Officium Stuttgart and Sportgeraete 2000 GmbH in Hildesheim, Germany.
